Because we’d only have had a couple people physically present, we decided to make this our first completely virtual meeting. I thought I started the scheduled meeting, but apparently I started a completely separate one. That made it impossible for anyone to join via the website widget. Once I figured out the error of my ways, I stopped the bogus meeting and started the right one. I was immediately joined by the other folks listed below. The meeting got started 30 minutes late.

Attendees:

  • Bruce Scherzinger
  • Dorothy Firsching
  • Joe LeBlanc
  • Don Cranford

We spent quite a bit of time dealing with DimDim and failing miserably. DimDim’s sharing feature seems to work OK, but audio was questionable. Not everyone could hear everyone. We ultimately switched to using a conference call number and stopped messing around with DimDim. The conference call number worked fine for us since nobody had any visual material prepared anyway.

Topics Discussed:

Microsoft is now interested in Joomla!

  • They are offering to let us use their Friendship Heights facility as the venue for Joomla Day.
  • G Andrew Duffy is the Microsoft contact.
  • Keith (Joe’s PHP group) knows Duffy and passed this along to Joe.
  • Bruce will contact Carol Kerins (neighbor) to see if she can be involved.

Joomla! Day DC 2010 Sponsors and Speakers:

  • Cover air fares and hotel accommodations.
  • Hold off contacting Louis Landry and Rob Schley until at least venue is secured.
  • We are hoping/expecting Ryan Ozimek to be our keynote speaker.

Joomla Day New England is June 5 2010

We talked for a few minutes at the end about some Joomla topics:

  • JomSocial compared with Community Builder
  • The status of Joomla! 1.6 and migration tool development
  • Some trivial programming issue I was having earlier in the week.

Meeting adjourned at about 9:20pm.
